Endometrial ablation is a surgical procedure that can be used to treat heavy periods or other abnormal bleeding caused by fibroids, polyps, endometriosis, or a thickening of the uterine tissue. During an endometrial ablation procedure, the lining of the uterus is treated with an electrosurgical tool. Typically, a woman undergoing this procedure should plan on two to three days for recovery.
You should not consent to an endometrial ablation procedure if you want to preserve your ability to become pregnant, but endometrial ablation is not a reliable form of birth control.
